Jesse James entered the WWF in late 1994 alligned with "Double J" Jeff Jarrett, he was then known as "The Roadie", up until Jarrett lip synced "With My Baby Tonight". Jarrett was driven from the WWF, so James went solo to pursue a singles career as the "Real Double J". He soon got sick of this mid-card status, and losing match after match. So in the late summer of 1997 Billy Gunn, another mid-carder frustrated with his current status as "Rockabilly", was confronted by James to form a tag team. Billy agreed, and they formed the unstoppable duo The New Age Outlaws.
By November of 1997, they captured the gold from the Legion Of Doom. They held the titles until Wrestlemania XIV, where they lost a dumpster match against the hardcore legends, Mick Foley and Terry Funk. The Outlaws protested and the titles were held up until the next night in a steel cage match, they then defeated Mick and Terry to regain their titles. That same night, March 30, 1998, Billy Gunn and Jesse James became the newest members of D-Generation X.
Joining forces was the best thing Billy and The Road Dogg could have done. They did anything and everything to make enemies.
